Hey everyone, so we are finally here at the end of the semester and tonight is the night for your final presentation.

I’m on my way to the campus now, but I might be running a few minutes late. once I get to class I’ll turn on the teachers workstation and you will have a chance to copy your project (for those of you that don’t have it posted to the web) to the desktop in a folder with your name on it.

Around 6:30-6:45 when most everyone feels ready I’ll start the screen recording and we’ll go though the presentations.

Following the presentations we will take a poll to decide who had the best presetation.

Following that we can check of any remaining homework. for the few of you left that have all of their assignments due, I’ll be comming to you last. Those of you who are done can go home.

Hey Everyone, this is our second to last class tonight. It’s a great night to be getting caught up on homework and getting me to check it off – PLEASE! The more that gets turned in, the better everyone’s life will be next week for the final presentation.

Tonight I will have a short demo on Flash Catalyst and why it might be an important tool for some of you to look at using, especially anyone who is interested in UX (User Experience) design. Catalyst is a tool that bridges PhotoShop/Illustrator mockups and the new Adobe Flash Builder (formally Flex). Even if you think you will never use Flash Builder, it’s very possibly you might find yourself in a position where you work with a Flash Builder Developer. Catalyst is a great tool to make that relationship work.

This will really be a short demo, I’ve fighting off some bug and don’t exactly have my full voice tonight. The demo is scheduled between 6:30 & 7:30, any other time tonight will be lab time. I will need to do some setup once I get to class for the demo, but I’ll be happy to come around and answer questions and check off homework.

Tonight’s class will be slightly different. In the period from 6:00 – 6:30 where I usually show a video, I’ll be available for questions, homework check-off, or to talk about the Final Project. At 6:30 I’ll have a brief demo on the basics of using and loading XML content, I’ll just be scraping the surface so I promise the lecture itself will be less than an hour (I’m actually shooting for only 30 min).

Following the lecture will be general lab time to work, ask questions, and turn in assignments. I’m expecting to post a video for the demo, and it should be ready tonight with some luck. Take advantage of this time, get caught up, and lets finish the semester out nicely!

Toward the end of the clip (around 4:44) the interviewer ask’s Frank

What would you be focused on learning right now as a new technologoy, an emerging area if you were a designer?
I would learn how to code. The most functional toolset is understanding code as a way of thinking, you know algorithmic thinking.

Hey Everyone,

I’m trying out a new wordpress plugin to allow you to check the status of the assignments you’ve turned in.

Under the class dropdown at the top of the page Mult 279 – Spring 2010 – Flash ActionScript Syllabus, at the top there is an option for Student Grades, select that. You will be presented with a page asking for an e-mail address and password. The e-mail address I have on record for everyone is their (first letter of first name)(last name)@my.smccd.edu address. To get your password, on your first visit you will need to visit the link at the bottom of the page for password request form and enter your e-mail address there. Your password is auto-generated and will be sent to the e-mail you submit provided it matches my data. Once you have your password sent to your e-mail, return to the Student Grades page and enter your e-mail and password to see your grades.

This seems fairly secure and the data I’m using only has your name along with your assignments. If for any reason you would like to opt out or use a different e-mail address just let me know in class or in an e-mail and I’ll do what I can.

Also if you have any suggestions or comments on this, let me know. I will be playing with the formatting over the next few weeks to help make it more readable.
